Japanese Case Studies of Creative Approaches Toward Strengthening Society Resilience

The social issues that people confront today are common global issues and are considered to be universal, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, many of these issues are difficult to be solved alone and are complex. By introducing creative approach methods to address the issues, clues and innovate ideas can be generated through inclusive and participatory process which requires close coordination and communication with the stakeholders . This approach complements the programs for the SDGs as it addresses various global issues and tries to provide examples on specific actions that may be taken to address the challenges with multiple stakeholders. CityNet-Plus Arts Center for Creative Partnerships has developed three sessions for CityNet members to share how programs may be developed to enhance the resilience of the society as a whole. The three sessions are as follows: 1. Developing disaster prevention education material, 2. Enhancing resilience with the private sector, 3. Creative approaches addressing urban social issues. Expected course length: 3 two-hour modules (total 6 hours)
